Apple Orders 15 Million iPhone 5s; Will Start Shipping In September?

Taiwanese publication - DigiTimes claims that Pegatron Technology has received orders for 15 million iPhone 5s from Apple.

According to DigiTimes’ sources, the next generation iPhone will start shipping in September 2011.

Pegatron currently manufactures CDMA iPhone that is available on Verizon's network.

DigiTimes reports:
The sources pointed out that as the iPhone 5, which does not seem to have any major update from iPhone 4, is already set for shipment in September, they are already started supplying components to Pegatron with Pegatron's plants in Shanghai, China also recently started hiring for manpower.

It has been widely speculated that Apple will unveil the fifth generation iPhone later this fall ever since it did not unveil the new iPhone at WWDC 2011 in June, like it has traditionally done in the last four years, since the launch of iPhone.

According to DigiTimes, iPhone 5 won’t be a major update from iPhone 4.

So far we’ve heard conflicting reports about next generation iPhone’s form factor. According to some reports, next generation iPhone will be completely redesigned and will look more like iPod Touch 4G rather than iPhone 4. While, some reports like this one claim that fifth generation iPhone will come with improved specifications such as faster processor, 8-megapixel camera etc. just like iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, but won’t feature an all-new design and will look like iPhone 4. Some analysts have predicted that Apple will launch both iPhone 5 and an unlocked iPhone 4S for the prepaid market.

What do you think about the possibility of an iPhone 5 that looks like iPhone 4? Let us know in the comments.
